At Allergy Friendly Stays, we prioritize creating an allergy-friendly environment in our homes for you and all future guests. Here are the bare minimum requirements for an Allergy Friendly Stays home to help make it easy for hosts to join the journey with us:
NO: Glade scent plug-ins, potpourri pots, incense sticks, or similar chemically scented items.
YES: Sage, natural incense, and essential oils in a diffuser are allowed unless guests request otherwise. Please note some individuals may still be sensitive to these.
NO: Commercial chemical-scented cleaners, laundry/dishwasher detergent, hand soap nor heavily scented body products supplied by hosts.
YES: Free & Clear/scent-free products or those scented with true essential oils. Preference to paraben, sulfate, dye and phthalate free. Fewer ingredients the better. If in doubt, please provide us with a screenshot of the product's ingredients via email.
* Use of harsh chemicals like stove cleaner/bleach only/etc. if absolutely necessary with plenty of time to off-gas the products between guests.
We find Vinegar, H202, baking soda, dish soap and bar keepers friends do the job just fine.
Pest Control & Outside the home
Some pest control companies are using more eco-friendly products. Please confirm with them or consider switching to these products):
Dichotomous earth for insect control around doors & windows outside
For Cockroaches traps inside the home similar to Combat Roach Killing Bait, Roach Bait Station For Large Roaches, Kills The Nest, Child-Resistant, 8 Count
Consider using natural wasp/hornet sprays and mosquito/bug repellents. Some eco-friendly options are available.
For inside/outside the home, peppermint or orange essential oil-based bug sprays are also effective and smell fantastic. Guests may even make their own.
FOR GUESTS, WE ASK HOSTS TO SHARE:
We kindly ask our guests to refrain from using perfumes/colognes inside the home and avoid sleeping on bedding with perfume/cologne on. This helps maintain an allergy-friendly environment for everyone's comfort.
